David Kašpárek

Czech Republic

David Kašpárek is a Prague-based DOP and Art Director whose work is rooted in the aesthetics of brutalism and street culture. His journey into visual media began with stop-motion animation workshops, where learning to bring static objects to life first sparked his interest in wider audiovisual production and eventually led him into full-time photo and video work.

His style focuses on the intersection of raw architectural forms and the dynamic energy of urban life. He looks for geometric patterns, heavy textures, and the honest monumentality of concrete, capturing how these structures interact with the spontaneity of the streets. He's drawn to the way light moves across massive concrete forms and how these "monsters of stone" dominate urban spaces, finding constant visual storytelling in the repetition of shapes and the stark contrast of architectural shadows.

David's dream project would be an audiovisual music video collaboration with Guy Ritchie set against the work of Oscar Niemeyer, blending serene, monumental architecture with Ritchie's signature high-energy cinematography and rhythmic editing. His advice to other creatives is to keep a mindset of constant experimentation and look for inspiration outside the world of cameras, since the most unique visual solutions often come from translating ideas in architecture, graphic design, or manual crafts into your own work.
