Cătălin Săvulescu is a Romanian portrait, commercial, and food/product photographer based in Tunari. An economist by training, he learned photography the old-school way—helping his father develop and enlarge prints in their apartment bathroom. That early darkroom discipline shows in his work today: carefully shaped light, intentional framing, and visual narratives built for brand storytelling.

His style centers on the dialogue between light and shadow—density, contrast, and tone used to create calm, deliberate images with tactile texture. Whether crafting portraits with a dramatic, almost theatrical atmosphere or minimalist still lifes for food and beauty, Cătălin designs lighting as a language: to reveal, conceal, and guide the eye. He has collaborated with prominent names across food, product, and beauty, delivering distinctive visual atmospheres that elevate identity.

A dream project would extend this study of light across portrait and still life—down to a minimalist series exploring the egg as a metaphor for origin and creation. His advice to creators is simple: study the light before you touch the camera. Cătălin works with tools from Zhiyun, SmallRig, Think Tank, Kupo, Ricoh, and OWC, and keeps a growing library of photo books that shape how he sees.
