The Peak Design Pro Tripod is available in three different sizes to match the needs of every creator. Choose the Pro Lite for maximum portability, the standard Pro for a balance of strength and versatility, or the Pro Tall for extended working height and maximum stability without relying on the center column.
Developed together with photographer and filmmaker Jimmy Chin, Pro Tripod builds on the award‑winning Travel Tripod and scales it up for greater rigidity, taller working heights, and pro‑level handling. Hardware is fully CNC‑machined, and every lever and touchpoint has been re‑engineered for smooth, repeatable operation. The leg design moves to fewer, larger sections for better torsional resistance, and the hub is machined for tighter tolerances.
Stability and
engineering
Pro Tripod is designed
to support heavy cameras and long lenses in demanding conditions. Larger‑diameter
legs, tighter tolerances, and a flanged carbon‑fiber center column reduce
vibration and flex. Optional spike feet improve grip on soil, ice, and rock. A
robust counterweight hook at the base of the column allows you to add mass in
wind or moving water. Low‑profile leg‑angle adjusters sit flush during
transport and pop up only when needed to minimize snags.
A core design principle is stability without relying on the center column. All sizes deploy tall enough that you can often keep the column down to maximize rigidity; raise it only when you need extra height.
Pro Ball Head and
camera interface
The Pro Ball Head
integrates smooth 360° fluid panning with an independent pan lock for
controlled moves. With the center column down you still have approximately 15°
of head adjustment for quick leveling; tilt to 90° for vertical shooting when
needed. A large, tactile adjustment ring lets you set holding force precisely.
The Arca‑compatible quick‑lock clamp has been redesigned to grip faster and tighter. Insert the camera, pull the plate lock ring to remove play, and engage the safety lock for total assurance. An always‑visible bubble level helps you level quickly, even on uneven ground.
Video‑ready
ecosystem
Video has become
integral to still‑photo workflows, and the Pro Tripod is built for it. Add the
optional Tilt Mod for compact, lockable fluid tilt; combined with the head’s
native fluid pan you get smooth, controlled pitch and yaw without switching to
a bulky video head. For users with dedicated video heads or gimbals, the
optional Leveling Base provides quick leveling and a standard interface. Mobile
creators can attach the Peak Design Creator Kit via the Arca‑compatible plate
and use SlimLink with a Peak Design phone case or universal adapter. The Tilt
Mod pairs well with mobile rigs for elevated handheld‑style video.
Speed and usability
Setup is fast and
intuitive. Four‑section legs with quick‑action flip locks deploy rapidly, and
vibration‑damping, non‑slip feet maintain grip on hard surfaces. The center
column is reversible for inverted shooting; for ultra‑low work, tilt the head
90°, remove the column, and mount the head directly for ground‑level shots. A
magnetic, foldable hex tool stows inside the center column—ready for plate
swaps or field maintenance. Anchor points on the chassis accept Peak Design
camera straps. The padded carry sleeve is weather‑resistant and includes an
adjustable strap.
Sizes and weights
The Pro Tripod is
available in three variants to meet different needs. Choose the size that
matches your height, pack length, and typical load. All three share the same
materials, head, and feature set.
Pro Tripod: Balanced size and stability for the widest range of use cases. Packed length 50.0 cm, max height 168.4 cm, working height 138.0 cm. Weight 1,9 kg.
Pro Lite: A lighter, more portable version with slightly reduced stiffness and height. Packed length 48.8 cm, max height 162.5 cm, working height 133.2 cm. Weight 1,7 kg.
Pro Tall: Extended legs for greater deploy height and maximum stability without extending the center column. Packed length 56.6 cm, max height 197.4 cm, working height 162.0 cm. Weight 2,0 kg.
